Black Bomb Bird

Here is a new bird I just finished. I tweaked it a bit as it is for a boys hockey team. Will be delivering it this weekend and hope to get quite a few orders!!!

Classic Black & White

This hat is so like my Mom. She taught me at an early age that black & white is classy and no matter where you go, you are in style. Although the hat is plain, the white flower and green leaf add the right touch!!!!!

For My Crafting Friends

I have been purging my crafting supplies and have a lot more to go thru. Will be starting after Christmas and opening to the public.
I am crocheting full time now and my craft fairs have proven to be very profitable. I find that wearable hats, scarvves and very unusual  items, people will purchase.
I am changing over this blog and will understand if you prefer to unsubscribe. We have to do what is right for us, and this transition makes sense for me. I will be adding content as I finish my projects.
My focus will be on baby bonnets, the type children wore in the 20's and 30's. Unusual, boutique quality and great for giving. I am also including womens hats with the 1920's flair, both knit and crochet.
Looking forward to sharing my new path with my friends!

My Future Plans

Good afternoon bloggers! We are over the storm and I am looking forward to my craft show on Saturday.
I spent the weekend in my studio, thinking about what I want to do in the future. I have been a crafter since the late 60's and I have accumulated quite a stash. A lot of the things I do not use any more. So, over the next month, I am planning on having a craft tag sale. The list so to long to mention, but a few of the items I am thinking of selling is a new cuttlebug machine(needs plates) but machine is new. My cricuit expression, cartridges and mats, and the original Sizzix machine and many sizzelets dies. But the bulk of my stash is lace, and trims. So, I would like to ask my faithful followers if their is anything you might be needing, please email me and give me an idea of what you might be interested in.
Over the next month or so, I will be putting a price list together with pictures and posting them on this blog. I will have to include shipping of course, but I want to give you all a chance to have first dibbs.
My plans are to continue designing for Altered Pages and DIY or DONT. I will not be vendering craft fairs after this yr. Getting older has its disadvantages. . I am going to be crocheting for the folks in the group homes and donating some hats to the hospital for newborns.
Also, I will be taking orders for adorable cocoon pouches for some of the mothers-to-be that take care of my daughter .
If you are interested in anything I mentioned, please email me at arlinepozzo@yahoo.com and I will get some pics and prices out to you.

Back In The Land of the iving

Boy, what a week. The storm that came in really devastated Connecticut. There were so many trees accross power lines. It was a very scary time. Several deaths because people brought gas generators and heaters into the house!! We were lucky, we have a large generator outside. We were low on propane so we just turned it on sparingly. On Wed, we got a deliverly of gas. We had a lot of time to listen to the radio, I crocheted some hats and read. It was like it was when I was a kid!! It makes you realize how addicted to our "things" No TV for a week!!!! But when all is said and done, we were warm, and safe.
Will post again on Monday

ATC Fridge Magnets

Happy Friday ladies. Just finished up some ATC's for an upcoming vendor event I am doing. Thought they would be nice "small gifts" to give to a co-worker. I included some words of inspiration on the cards. many are about friendship. If they sell well, iIwill make more.
It is quite chilly here in Connecticut. I am going to the ScrapStamp Expo in Rhinebeck,NY tomorrow and it is difficult to know what to wear. Hope it warms up a little.
I am planning on revamping my studio next week. I am trying to get organized and utilize all of the space as best I can. This should be fun. My husband already told me he will be busy that day.(Funny, I have not told him what day I will be organizing)
Have a great weekend everyone!

Saturdays Projects

Good afternoon friends. I am working on about 10 projects at a time. This picture is of my paint container holding my bottle cap earrings, key chains and necklaces. Trying to get all this together on as few displays is maddening. I also have a lot of "Kids" key rings that I want to bring, so that attaches on the other side. My dominos are going to be displayed on a Stampin Up Board that I will have to take along.
I am working on submitting 3 projects for a designer call that went out Tuesday. I am hoping that I will be accepted. That would be a great feather in my cap. I also got a great response from another company and I am awaiting to hear the criteria for their design team. They loved my designs.
I also started knitting scarves for Christmas.I hope to sell some and give some as gifts.
Keep me in your prayers for good news!!!!! Thanks

A Merry Christmas Magnet Board

Happy Tuesday my friends.
This is the last of my magnet boards. I just have to decorate the magnets and I will be done. These will be displayed at my first Bazaar.
I am still working on my dominos and finishing up the final touches for my vendor events. I start in Oct. Sounds far away, but it will be here before you know it. I also started with some bottle cap jewlery for the kids. This is out of my comfort zone, but I had over two hundred caps and decided it was time to do something with them. If any of my followers know what young teen girls like, please let me know. I know about Justin Bieber but I am lost as to what else girls like, and follow. Thanks for being patient with my not blogging last week. There just was no time at the end of the day.

The last two weeks

Hi friends. I did not want you to think I left the planet. I have had two busy weeks with house projects and fulfilling orders that need to be put to bed.
I have been in the studio and will have some updates this week.
I painted two rooms in the house, boy I am not as young as I used to be. What used to take one day, took 3. Then some excitement with the grandchildren. One broke his ankle and starts a new private school this week No football for him. My grandaughter was taken to the ER with what they thought was a gallblader attack. Still getting info on that. I was busy making special good luck cards for all four for the first day of school. My youngest grandaughter started kindergarden. Oh my, where did the time go.
Will be back with you on Tuesday. Hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day!!!!!

Christmas Tags

These are some tags I have been working on in the studio. I used chipboard and covered it with paper on both sides. The images are from Altered Pages #557. The scalloped circle is a Tim Holtz
die. I added lace; ribbon and a stick pin. These would be great christmas ornaments!!!!
Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend. It is a beautiful day in the NW corner of
Connecticut. I am looking forward to the leaves changing color. I am lucky, I just look out of my window and the show begins!!!!

Marie Antionette

Good afternoon, friends. I was in my studio this morning to work on this project. I need something to display my domino pendants and thought this would do the trick. I picked up this wooden dress form at Michaels yesterday. With my altered pages image of Marie#1709, I attached it to the front , added some trim, feathers, lace, flowers and a lace jabot to the bottom for her skirt. The fan is from an old charm bracelet.
My next project is to add the wire to the dominos so I can hang some bling. My friend JoAnne gave me a tutorial Monday on wire wrapping. She is the expert when it comes to jewlery making. I will do my best and show you some samples tomorrow.

Magnet Board

Good Sunday morning friends. I have been absent this week but busy behind the scenes. I am working on my crafts for Xmas fairs. My first will be Oct 22. Seems like a long way off, but time moves very quickley. This magnet board is truly vintage. I decided to make some different magnets, one a dress form and a spool of thread. I sprayed my lace with aderondick ink to make it look aged. I added a rose ribbon at the top. Hope you like it. Thanks for your support, I truly appreciate it!

Altered Magnetic Note Board

Good Evning. I am later than usual today. I was taking a class at New England Scrapbook this morning. This is my first class here, but I shop there all the time. Lynn & Sue are great gals and a lot of fun! The class was given by Pamela Huntington, a very talented lady. She is going to be putting another class together in the future which I may take. This board is easy . You need the metal board, paper of your choice, trim, lace and modge podge. The board comes with 4 magnets which are so much fun to decorate. I used some gauze, buttons, flowers and a bird.
Tomorrow, I am going to my Grandaughter's birthday party. All my grandchildren will be there.

Marie Antionette Altered Clothes Pin

Good afternoon It has been a weird day today. I was working in my studio this morning, getting my christmas cards in envelopes and wrapped in plastic. I then had some lunch and worked on some chiffon flowers which I will upload when they are finished. We have been without a phone for a few days. Tech was supposed to come out yesterday. Charter called to tell us that the tech was on his way. They got a busy signal so they canceled. After jumping down their throat, we are waiting for them now. How do they think you are going to answer your phone when it is not working duh?????? Sometimes I think the world is upsidedown. Where is common sense?
I decided that I wanted a Marie clothes pin. For some reason, she has gotten under my skin. I painted the pin berry wine, attached a small lace around the edges. Then I added some lace in layers for her gown, roses, pearls and greenery. She is now sitting on my desk very proud to be here. Thanks for allowing me to rant!!!

Ribbon Tutorial

Good morning ladies. Here is the tutorial for the ribbon technique. The length of ribbon you choose indicates the length of the "rucching". For demonstration, I have used a 12" length of ribbon. Thread a needle with a generous length of thread.

The next step: instead of just gathering stitches, use the diagonel stitches shown here. One to one side, going over to the other side. Makes the gathering even.

When you have the length you want, pull the stitches tightly and stitch together, leaving a tail at each end. You might have to "fuss" with the ribbon to make sure the right sides are facing up. When attaching to a card, I hot glue one end, arrange the middle and glue.

For the gold ribbon, I attached the ends and formed a flower.

For a video, go to Julie at The Jule Box and search for her video. She is an amazing, talented young lady. I have learned a lot from Julie. Check out her store while you are there!
Thanks for watching. Mabe on day, I will get enough courage to do videos on You Tube.

Vintage get well card

Good afternoon. I was working on my vintage cards this morning and I decided to add a little something extra to this card. The card dates back to 1927, and has lovely silver outlines around the flowers. The background is a soft pink with light blue flowers. I added a new technique that I learned. I think it is called rucching. I love the look, and it is perfect for adding just a little something to a card. I will work on the turorial later this afternoon and post tomorrow.
Please let me know what you think. I love comments!

What I Have Been Up To

Happy Monday! This weekend flew by and here we are in August. I spent the last week working on my Stamps. About a year ago, I took most of my wooden stamps of the blocks and put them in CD cases. That freed up a lot of room. My chore this week was to catagorize them and put labels on the outside so I can find what I am looking for. This is just one of the book cases I have for just my CD cases. The other one has other wooden stamps that I am not planning to take off the blocks. One project down. Many more to go.
I will be working again on my vintage christmas and everyday cards. I worked with one today from 1924! I have my bazzaars lined up starting in October. Hard to believe that we are headed for that dreaded S word. At least we have the fall to look forward to.
I live 8 miles outside of town and the fall foliage views are so beautiful. I do not have to travel far as I am surrounded by woods!! I am 600 ft off the road, so I do not hear traffic, just birds , fox and bears!!!!! Talk to you tomorrow.

Thanks Card

Good afternoon. Spent the morning tagging and packing all of my bazaar projects in plastic storage bins for the vendor events. It feels good to be organized.
This card came together quickly. I love the look of black and white. My Mom always told me that black and white is a classic look. I remember my spectator pumps (black and white) They were my favorite shoes. But I digress. I put a little bit of this and a little bit of that and here it is!
I spent some time this afternoon working on the dominos. These are growing on me. Once I get these done, I can play again. Whoooooooo!!!!!

Final Clothes Pins

Good Afternoon! Here are the last the clothes pins for my bazzars. I loved working with them and now it is on to something else!!!!! I want to thank Lynne for all her help with her tutorial for watermarking my photos. Even an old dog can learn new tricks.
My big job now is getting things lined up to sell. My plan is to get last years projects sold and start working on new ones. I will be working on Altered Pages August challange. I was not sure that I ws going to like it. I am not a Steampunk kind of gal, so when Jean was saying wheels and sprockets, my "Oh no!" came to mind. But little ole me did not think of automobiles. That I can do. So Jean kindley sent me a collage of vintage photos of cars and lo and behold, I remember the models!! As a girl, I new every make and model of every car. Not so today.

So onto the drawing board and my new projects. Will post when I come up with a brilliant idea!!

Altered Clothes Pins

I worked in my studio most of the day. I finished up these clothes pins. They make a nice gift for Christmas. I use mine every day to keep from misplacing important phone numbers and slips of paper that I can never find on my desk!
Tomorrow I will be finishing up my Christmas cards. The cards from 1927 -1940 are so beautiful. I remember my Mom sending out cards like these to my relatives. Christmas was always very special at my house. My grandmother lived downstairs and all of my aunts; uncles, and cousins used to come for Christmas Eve. The Polish tradition was to have a large dinner, but we had a wafer in which we all shared and wished each other good health. Unfortunately, when the family passed on, the younger generation did not carry on the tradition.

Jewlery by Linette

Good Monday morning! Well the weekend is behind us, where did it go? I did some reading and rested yesterday. I plan on working in my studio all day today, but before I start, I wanted you to see a necklace set my friend Linette made. She is a dear friend and a very lovely lady.
Linette has given me permission to feature her work on my blog. If you would like to see more of her designs, please go to http://www.beadsbyheart.yolasite.com/ I will be posting some of my new work later on today.

Altered Dominos

Good morning to you all. I am up bright and early this morning and decided to upload my newest project. I am working on my dominos for the upcoming Christmas bazaars. I can tell you all, I am not a beader or have any talent in the jewlery dept. I did have fun with the Ranger inks. It is amazing how they react on the dominos. I plan on finishing this project in the next few days.
Enjoy!!

Where Bloggers Create #2

. These rolls of ribbon are hanging on the outside wall of my studio.

This is the left side of my main work table.

This is the wall in back of my main table. I have a large rack with hooks to hold some of my lace, ribbons, and other items. On the right hand side, I purchased several bath towl racks at the Dollar Store to house my punches. I know, I'm cheap, but my Mommy made me do it!!!!!!!

I will post again tomorrow, must clean the other half of the room!!!!

Where Bloggers Create #1

Hello Bloggers,

I have decided to enter the "Where Bloggers Create" blog party Karen Valentine of My Desert Cottage is hosting the second annual party for all creative bloggers.
I was a bit nerveous as my area is usually a disaster area. I thought that the wonderful ladies that are among the blog world would understand that neatness is not always possible.
My studio is in my basement. My hubby built a separate room for me. It is my little oasis and I love it.

This is my main table. I cleaned it up before I took this picture. It is spacious and I have a TV to the right of this picture. The photo on the wall was purchased at my favorite thrift store for $2.00. How could I let this gem pass me by? I keep a computer on my desk in case I want to watch a You Tube video as a turorial.

This is the rack which is over my table. I bought some black clips from staples and some paper clips and made an area for all of my stickers, hand made flowers, etc. I did not want to pay a fortune for one of the "Clip it Ups.

Since blogger is being a pain, I will add some photos in the next post.

Hello Bloggers!
Today, I entered the Where Bloggers Create over at My Desert cottage. Karen Valentine is hosting the second annual "party" for all creative bloggers. I was very sceptical at first. My space is in my basement and it is usually a disaster area. I am including some pictures (I tided up a bit) I have a few more pics but blogger would not let me upload, so I will upload later
The first picture is the area where my main work table is located. Hubby put the long shelf up for my boxes of my flowers.

Under the shelf, I used some of the black clips from Staples and some paper clips, and used them to hang stickers, hand made flowers, pearl brads etc. off the bottom of the rack. Did not want to spend a fortune on Clip it Up.

Mae West in her glory

Good evening. This post card was a was a swap that I did for AlteredPages.com. We had to use a movie star and I chose Mae West. Boy, was she a character and very much before her time. Some of her quotes are a bit "racy". She was a beautiful woman. Since I was in a quirky mood when I designed this, here it is!!

Something Different

Happy Friday, this week has flown by. I have been working on some fast projects for the upcoming vendor fairs. I wante to make some sympathy cards and this is one that I have come up with. Not vintage, but I wanted to work on something different. I used Stampin Ups' Chocolate chip card stock, cream card stock and Martha Stewart butterfly punches.
I purchased the flower and swirl die at Joan's Garden. This design was something I saw on Kittie Kraft's blog. She is an amazing talented lady. I will show you some more tomorrow.

A Real Vintage Christmas card

This is a Currier & Ives card circa 1927. I used an odd color for the background, but it matched the sky. Then I added a complimentary bow and a pearl brad. Reminds me of the Connecticut winters when I was in grade school. We had so much snow, you could not see accross the street because the snow was piled so high!!! And ladies, we walked to school, no buses and no days off.
Long johns, wool socks and leggings. We looked like fat snow people!!!!!

Back to Work

Good Afternoon, I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend. My husband and I spent the holiday taking it easy. We each have our projects, I have my crafts and Dick is taking an Italian speaking class at the senior center. He enjoys speaking the language, but since his family lives in Mass, he does not get a chance to "practice"
I decided to work on some projects for an upcoming Xmas Bazaar. This is an altered notebook I purchased from the dollar store. I used Le Creme paper, pearls and I utilized some old earrings on the corners. Love that old jewlery. For my flower, I made a chiffon ribbon flower, feathers, and a pearl button center. Oh, so pretty!!
A dear gentileman from my church gave me 3 large boxes of original Christmas cards and so many birthday, anniversary etc. cards from 1924 to 1985. I am working on updating them . What does not sell, I will send out this Christmas.
They are so beautiful!!!! Will be posting samples!!
PS No one came up with the answer on the tag. It is a "sweater guard" circa 1952.
I know, WHAT??? It was used when you put a
sweater over your shoulders and used it to keep it from falling off. Oh dear, my age is showing again!!!!

Happy 4th of July

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend. Here is a patriotic card for you.
Thanks to all of our troops around the world, and to all of our veterans who have served. Without your sacrafice, we would not be free.
Can anyone guess what I used on the bottom of this tag????? Leave a comment!!!
